Detailed Information for Counselors
Automation vs. Participation:
CareerWay is designed to balance automated job matching
information with active participation by the user. The user can spend as much or as little time as he/she wants
researching jobs, taking assessments, and evaluating job-fit.CareerWay can be tailored to the user
depending on where they are in their career search – they can take as many or
as few assessments as they want to, or as you recommend.Through encouraging active participation,
CareerWay helps facilitate educated and informed career choices where the
individual has ownership of the final decision.
Gap Analysis Reports:
Through gap analysis reports, users can identify how well
they fit a job and evaluate where they are willing to make trade-offs. No job will be a perfect match, but
CareerWay helps the user think critically through what things are the most
important to them in a job, and provides them with information on how to
develop any areas where they may have gaps.
Facilitates the Counseling Process:
CareerWay is an interactive career program; not a "career
test." CareerWay is ideal to use as
part of an interactive multi-session career counseling process. Many counselors introduce CareerWay during
the first session and encourage the student/client to complete multiple
assessments as “homework” as they progress through their career search. As the counselor, you can track the
students who use CareerWay and their progress allowing you to reach students
beyond the doors of your career center! And, you can spend your one-on-one time focusing on what’s really
important...the career decision.
For Every Stage of the Career Search:
CareerWay is comprehensive system that can be used
throughout the college career of a student. Freshman can utilize the system to identify possible career choices and
majors to pursue, as well as help them identify the skills and knowledge they
need to build over the next several years. Seniors can use the system to help identify jobs that are associated
with their chosen major and evaluate their immediate career path. The system provides tools for those
preparing for a career and for those in the midst of the job search.
