    Background

    Who are the creators of CareerWay and CareerWay Express?

    Bigby, Havis & Associates is a consulting firm that provides products, services and general consulting to organizations and individuals in the workplace. We began as a part of a general management consulting firm, Lifson, Wilson, Ferguson and Winick (LWFW) that was founded in the 1950's. At the beginning of 1989, we spun the Organizational Psychology practice off into BHA. Since 1989, we have diversified our practice into a range of products, services and broader organizational consulting.

    Our organizational focus is on person-job fit -- hiring the right people into the job and helping people plan their career development to meet their potential.

    We developed CareerWay and CareerWay Express to address the growing need for an on-line, comprehensive career development assessment that could be used for a number of different audiences. Using our experience and expertise in developing assessments and delivering high-tech products, we released CareerWay and CareerWay Express in late 2001.

    What is the conceptual foundation of the CareerWay systems?

    The CareerWay systems are founded on the extensive research by the US Department of Labor (O*NET™ database). In order to make the wealth of information in this database more valuable to job seekers, we developed assessments based on the same scheme that the Department of Labor has used to categorize jobs. Therefore, when a person completes any of the 6 assessments, they are instantly matched to any of the 900+ jobs in the Department of Labor's database that fit them based on their responses.

    CareerWay and CareerWay Express are sophisticated career development programs designed to help people make sound assessments of themselves and their fit to jobs. Our state-of-the-art technology and system design make the career development process interesting and fun with easy access to the wealth of career resources available online.
